The Calipatria Unified School District Board of Trustees met Aug. 11 and approved a series of routine but consequential items for the 2025–26 school year, including a campus security contract, an AmeriCorps partnership and a procedural interfund borrowing authorization.
Trustees voted unanimously to accept a Triad Security Service quote to provide campus security at Bill Young Middle School and Calipatria High School for 2025–26. The board discussed whether the position could be converted to a classified employee role in future negotiations; Oscar Garcia, speaking for CSEA, said there is interest in converting the work to a classified position “maybe next year.” The motion passed by a roll call vote of 7 ayes.
The board also approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the AmeriCorps Borderland Project for 2025–26 and adopted a resolution authorizing interfund borrowing between district funds in an amount not to exceed $100,000 to address potential cash‑flow needs. Superintendent Angelita V. Ortiz described the borrowing authorization as “procedural” and said it would be used only if needed.
Trustees conducted a broad policy adoption, accepting revisions and administrative regulations that span complaints procedures, records access, contracts, Title IX complaint procedures and new technology guidance, including an Artificial Intelligence policy. On specific choices, trustees directed staff to adopt selected options for several bylaws and removed Bylaw 9150 (student board member) from the adopted packet.
The meeting also covered routine financial and personnel items approved on the consent agenda. No reportable action was announced after a closed session on personnel and labor negotiations. The board reconvened and adjourned at the conclusion of scheduled items.
