Board signs off on multiple project closeouts and awards sports-field lighting bids

Superintendent Angelita Ortiz described the air vent project closeout as the final payment step. Mr. Sanders, who advised the board on contract closeout language and scheduling, recommended closing and paying the project to finalize contractor obligations. The board approved the closeouts and final retention payments for the listed projects (each motion passed by roll call: 7 ayes).
For sports-field lighting, bid results submitted to the board showed Premier Electric with a base bid of $1,055,500 and Ace Electric at $1,098,000. CBO Rosa Medina said ELOP funds could cover the project but that doing so would leave limited discretionary resources; Mr. Sanders suggested phasing the work (install the light fixtures first, then connect power) and noted DSA approval typically takes about 90 days before a notice to proceed is issued. The board accepted and awarded the bids to proceed with the project.
