Board approves 2024'27 Local Control Accountability Plan after trustees praise literacy focus

The Calipatria Unified School District Board of Trustees voted to approve the district's 2024'27 Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) at its June 23 meeting.
Trustee Raul Navarro led discussion in favor of the plan, calling it "the most detailed plan he's seen" and specifically praising its emphasis on SIPPS, tool assessments and corrective reading. Navarro also noted that "the Budget is tied to LCAP," saying he appreciated the time taken to make the plan specific. The board approved the LCAP (motion by Trustee R. Navarro, seconded by Trustee Saiza) by roll call: 6 ayes, 1 absent.
The superintendent's office posted the full LCAP and supporting documents and the district said the record reviewed and linked the plan to budget allocations. Trustees and staff discussed intervention priorities and asked that math interventions be considered in related documents.
The board's approval now allows staff to implement the LCAP strategies that were identified during the stakeholder review process and ties those strategies to the 2025'26 budget previously approved by the board.
