Superintendent Angelita V. Ortiz told the board that Keitha McCandless holds a multiple-subject credential and “she has enough credits in Math to teach it.” Ortiz said Richard Stewart also meets credit requirements in chemistry even though his assignment this year was listed as general science. Trustee Michael Fong led the discussion before the board moved to approve the item.
A motion to approve the resolution was made by Trustee Raul Navarro and seconded by Trustee Diego Navarro. The motion passed by roll call vote with seven ayes. Trustee Michael Fong asked that staff evaluations be completed before the end of the school year.
The resolution covered two specific assignments: McCandless for Mathematics (grades 7–8) under Education Code 44256(b), and Stewart for Chemistry (grades 9–12) under Education Code 44263.
