Kingsbury County awards $3.29 million bid for 425th Avenue reconstruction

Kingsbury County commissioners on March 3 awarded the contract to reconstruct 425th Avenue to Asphalt Paving & Materials Co. for $3,287,773.31.
Andrew Kangas of Civil Design, Inc., who presented the bids, said the county received bids ranging from $3.29 million up to $3.95 million. "Substantial completion was set for August 7, 2026, and total completion for September 4, 2026," Kangas told the board. The award followed a recommendation from county staff and a unanimous vote by the five commissioners.
The county's Highway Superintendent, Dave Sorenson, noted the lower-than-expected bids prompted the Board to revisit potential work on 215th Street requested by Redstone Dairy, but Sorenson said core samples are still needed before design work proceeds. Commissioners did not finalize any additional work at this meeting.
The contract award authorizes the county to move forward with project scheduling and contracting under the terms presented by Civil Design, Inc. The Board recorded the motion to award on a second by Commissioner Spilde and carried the motion unanimously. The Commission will oversee project administration as bids are executed and may receive future progress reports from county staff and Civil Design.
