The Kingsbury County Board on Feb. 3 approved a staffing offer and equipment purchases for the Highway Department. Highway Superintendent Dave Sorenson told the Board he had a qualified applicant and requested authorization to offer the Heavy Equipment Operator position at Grade Level 20, Step A, with a starting wage of $23.04 per hour; the Board approved the offer by motion.
Sorenson also presented two equipment requests: purchase of a wire‑feed welder from A‑Ox Welding and a used 2024 Model 262D3 skidsteer with about 300 hours from Butler Machinery for $60,250 through Sourcewell. The Board approved buying the skidsteer outright for $60,250.00 and authorized purchase of the welder, with a motion limiting the welder purchase to up to $5,000. Finance options (5% over four years) were noted but the Board elected to proceed with the outright skidsteer purchase.
