Representative Alexander told the committee HB 1958 responds to difficulty employers face computing commission and piecework pay by allowing payment on the last day of the succeeding month rather than by the 5th. She said many employers already miss the 5th deadline, and the change would provide more flexibility and transparency for employers and employees.
Committee members asked clarifying questions; Representative Alexander noted that employers could still pay by the 5th if they prefer. The clerk recorded six ayes, zero noes, and the bill will proceed to Commerce.
