Meeker PWA approves switch to Eastside Waste after service concerns with current provider

Town Administrator Jeff Wilbourn outlined recurring communication and customer-service issues with the current provider and presented the proposed Eastside Waste agreement, which was described as generally comparable or lower in price with some cost savings for certain services. Contract provisions reviewed included a 12-month term with automatic renewal, a 90-day notice of non-renewal, liability insurance requirements and a nonassignability clause. The Town Attorney, Jim Hodgens, advised that the town may have grounds to terminate the current contract for breach.
Trustee Aaron Head moved to terminate service with GFL and approve Eastside Waste; Trustee Kenneth Massey seconded and the vote was unanimous. Officials noted it is uncertain when the changeover will be implemented.
