Meeker schedules June 9 public meeting on proposed sales tax increase

The Meeker Board of Trustees discussed a possible sales tax increase to support municipal operations, public safety, infrastructure, beautification and maintenance, and agreed public forums should precede any election or formal action. Trustee Kenneth Massey said town-hall meetings should be held before moving forward and Mayor Donna Weber agreed, requesting at least two special meetings for public comment.
Mayor Weber moved to set a public opinion meeting for June 9, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.; Massey seconded and the motion carried with Trustees Thompson, Massey and Weber voting yea. The meeting was scheduled specifically so citizens can ask questions and provide input before the Board considers a ballot measure.
