Meeker Board tables 2026–27 town budget for more review

The Meeker Board of Trustees reviewed the first draft of the town's 2026'27 budget and voted to delay final action so all members could review details. Town Clerk Kimberly Haynes told trustees "this was the first draft, and there will be some further clean up and inquiries made for expenditures." Trustee Lanny Thompson moved to table the budget; Trustee Kenneth Massey seconded and the motion carried with Thompson, Massey and Mayor Donna Weber voting yea.
Trustees questioned allocations for the police department, payroll entries and duplicate line items and noted rising costs for health and property insurance. The clerk and staff said the draft will be revised and that the matter will return at the June board meeting for further review and public input.
