Meeker trustees adopt municipal-carry ordinance, enact emergency clause

The Meeker Board of Trustees on March 16 adopted Ordinance 25-26-004 authorizing municipal elected officials, municipal judges and certain employees to carry concealed firearms pursuant to the municipal carry act and enacted the ordinance's emergency clause.
Mayor Donna Weber moved to adopt the ordinance, seconded by Trustee Aaron Head; the motion passed unanimously. The ordinance text as introduced in the meeting record states it would add language to Chapter 2 — Administration, Section 2-901, “authorizing municipal elected officials, municipal judges and certain employees to carry concealed firearms for self-defense pursuant to the municipal carry act.”
Trustees also voted to enact the emergency clause so the ordinance would take effect immediately. No public comment was recorded on the ordinance during the meeting.
The ordinance was recorded as Ordinance 25-26-004. The board took the vote and then proceeded with the remainder of the agenda.
