At the Feb. 17 Meeker Board meeting, teacher and bus driver Anthony Early said the defeat of the recent school bond "extends beyond athletic facilities" and reflected, in his view, worries about long‑term investment in students. Early criticized misinformation and negative social media discourse around the bond and said the proposed cost was reasonable. He urged the community to support students regardless of competitive outcomes and warned that lack of investment could contribute to student disengagement.
Veronica Tessier told the board her "vote against the recent school bond was not due to a lack of support for students or Meeker Public Schools" but stemmed from insufficient information available before the election; she said she had sought additional details and proposed alternatives including fundraising, sponsorships and partnerships to improve facilities. Johnny Butler, a Meeker alumnus, encouraged greater alumni outreach and earlier communication before elections to increase awareness and participation. Town Administrator Jeff Wilbourn reminded the audience that the bond election was a school—rather than City—matter and said "no one should be pressured, criticized, or judged for their vote."
