Board greenlights one new basketball court, hears updates on drainage, alarms and parking projects

Facility Manager Francisco Carmona updated the board on multiple campus infrastructure projects at the Jan. 8 meeting.
Carmona said there was no well update this month because the contact who provides data was on vacation and that the fire alarm project is waiting on a required part before work can begin. He reported the new drainage system was completed in-house over winter break and "the system has been working very well," noting it reduced water overflow onto hall concrete and redirected excess water to the east side of campus.
Weather delayed east parking lot resurfacing, with a new target during a three-day weekend in February. Fox Asphalt Maintenance proposed installing five 22' speed bumps for $11,975 (Proposal No. 3255), but the board decided to postpone that project until quotes for a longer-term surface are obtained. The board approved a motion to install one basketball court in the primary grade area after receiving a $30,000 quote from Geometric to install nine hoops; the board opted to proceed with one court now and seek additional quotes for remaining installations.
