MOT reports summer projects; marquee replacement and C-Train relocation delay fencing and asphalt work

Francisco Carmona, director of maintenance, operations and transportation (MOT), presented the board with a summary of summer projects. Carmona said MOT crews painted the cafeteria kitchen and a shed near the playground, removed the marquee in preparation for an LED screen installation anticipated in late August or early September, and cleared a classroom to allow replacement of kindergarten carpet.
Carmona told the board that two C-trains on campus will be relocated in late July and described the relocation as a sequencing constraint: fencing around the shop and cafeteria and planned asphalt work are on hold until the trains are moved. He said the series of projects created a “domino effect” that required adjusting the schedule and coordinating with contractors and an architect for the maintenance-building expansion.
