Leonas described redaction challenges for body and dash‑camera videos in FOIA responses and said the department is monitoring proposed state legislation that would address monetization and repeated public display of arrest footage.
Regarding traffic enforcement, Deputy Chief Covelli said Half Day Road (Route 22) is the department’s top enforcement location, with roughly 3,300 citations and warnings issued there in the past year. The department will run a rotating summer campaign—focused every two weeks on different traffic topics—collect before‑and‑after speed data using portable radar signs, and issue a public press release to inform residents about enforcement activity. Trustee Mitchell asked for metrics about how often the department acts on automated license‑plate alerts (Flock); Chief Leonas and Deputy Chief Covelli said the system is used to identify vehicles and highlighted past successes but that specific response metrics are not currently tracked.
