Beecher board awards multiple public-works contracts, buys new mower and schedules NPDES assistance

Trustee Stacey led a slate of public-works approvals at the April 28 meeting. The Board approved a sidewalk and curb replacement proposal to K.R.T. Concrete for $13,500 and a mud-jacking contract with Affordable Concrete Raising for $3,660. McGill Paving was awarded asphalt patching at $10,320.
For more extensive street work, the Board approved a contract with Wirkus Paving for asphalt replacement in the 500 and 600 blocks of Birch Drive and the 500 block of Elm Street in the amount of $62,955.20 and later approved an additional asphalt contract with Wirkus for $25,648.64 to address failed road edges in the 600 block of Elm Street. The Board also approved sealcoating and striping of Firemen's Park ($8,341), additional park sealcoating items ($8,582) with partial reimbursement from the 4th of July Commission, and sealcoating at the Public Works shop ($3,650).
The Board authorized purchase of a 2025 John Deere 960 zero-turn mower from Shorewood Home and Auto for $14,323.54; two older mowing units will be sold due to mechanical failures. Trustee Stacey also moved to accept Baxter & Woodman’s proposal for 2025 NPDES MS4 program assistance for $7,200, an amount included in the FY2025/26 budget. All motions carried unanimously.
