Loami board approves water and sewer rate changes after CWLP hikes rates

Trustees approved Ordinance 2025-04 amending village water and sewer rates following large rate increases from the village's supplier. Mayor Steven Lambert told the board that City, Water, Light and Power (CWLP) increased its water rates by 32% in 2024 and then increased rates by another 32% in 2025. He said the village had previously not passed increases "due to a good financial standing."
Treasurer Brad Colantino told trustees he estimates the village's rate increase should keep water revenue in good standing for seven to eight years and noted that Loami's water rates remain among the lowest in surrounding villages. The ordinance was approved on a unanimous roll-call vote.
