Participants discussed several strategies to diversify school revenue and increase community engagement. Proposals included hiring or contracting a grant writer, hosting foreign-exchange students as a revenue source, developing sports camps and student-run enterprises (welding-shop products, senior projects), and using on-the-job training partnerships with local employers. Speaker 7, who chairs an ad hoc committee, summarized the group's work on revenue ideas: "we've been talking a lot this year about ways... how we can make revenue for the school."
Local media and board members also urged better publicity of student successes to build community support. A Sentinel representative offered to publish profiles and asked staff to alert the paper to noteworthy student accomplishments so journalists can cover them. The boards discussed arranging annual performance reporting that would include post-graduation outcomes and qualitative success stories to show how district programs benefit local students.
