After executive session, Salina board hires four staff and two paraprofessionals

Following an executive session Aug. 11, the Salina Board of Education voted unanimously to hire Lindsay Johnson as Middle School ELA/History, Devon Johnson as custodian, Jonathan Teague as MS Math/Science and varsity assistant football coach, and paraprofessionals Brittany Stewart and Nathaniel Ross.

After adjourning to executive session at 6:26 p.m. to discuss employment matters, the board reconvened in open session at 6:37 p.m. and voted to hire Lindsay Johnson as Middle School ELA/History (motion by Leroy Monk, seconded by Greg Rice). Subsequent motions approved hiring Devon Johnson as a custodian and Jonathan Teague as a Middle School Math/Science teacher and varsity assistant football coach. The board also approved hiring Brittany Stewart and Nathaniel Ross as paraprofessionals. All recorded votes were unanimous.
The minutes note that Superintendent Cathy Harmon was present during the executive session; the minutes state only that the listed employment items were discussed and that no votes were taken during executive session itself.
