Salina board confirms multiple hires after executive session; accepts three resignations

The Salina Board of Education convened an executive session under Oklahoma law to discuss personnel matters and returned to open session at 6:53 p.m. Superintendent Cathy Harmon and the board confirmed that only the listed personnel items were discussed.
Following the executive session the board approved the hiring of multiple staff for the 2025–2026 school year: Dan Teed as Middle School Science teacher; Alyson Padilla as Middle School SPED teacher; Megan Harms as Fifth Grade teacher; Mikel Thomas and Kelsey Applegate as High School Math teachers; Cayden Clark as MS/HS Band teacher; Lisa Norquist as High School Dean of Students (while she works toward a counselor degree); Trenton Hastings as custodian; and paraprofessionals Rebecca Enkey, Grant Harmon, Dalene Martin and Johnathen Vandenbroeke. All hires were approved by unanimous vote.
The board also accepted letters of resignation from Courtney Stookey, Kim Alberty and Cindy Perez; the acceptance motions carried 5–0. The minutes state that no votes were taken during the executive session itself and that only the listed items (employment of specified positions and any resignation letters) were discussed.
