Selectboard pauses EV charger plans after site and access concerns

Todd Tyson reported that Janet Wells offered a location for a Level II electric vehicle (EV) charger and that the referenced grant totals $32,000. The board discussed an existing easement on the north side of Town Hall that serves as a second emergency exit and whether amending it to allow charger access could impede emergency access.
Selectboard members said the town would need to be the owner of the EV charger if the project moved forward and raised questions about site safety and access. The board declined to authorize bringing in a contractor for a firm quote or asking the Vermont Law School clinic to proceed with grant applications at this time, leaving the matter deferred pending clearer plans for siting and access.
No formal action to apply for or purchase a charger was taken at the meeting.
