County approves camera system estimates, removes prepay clause to comply with law

Members of the Security Committee — Register of Deeds Caryn Hojer, Emergency Manager Kristen Longville and Sheriff Steven Strande — updated the Board on grant-funded courthouse security projects and asked to proceed with the camera portion of the work. Hojer told commissioners that Castlerock will install a fence around the heating and cooling system and that the committee obtained camera system estimates from Onsight ($32,004.85) and Efraimson Electric ($12,138.00).
The committee noted the overall grant includes additional security items such as alarm work and push bars. The estimate from Onsight required a prepay, but county counsel noted the county cannot prepay per codified law; the motion adopted by the Board accepted the Onsight and Efraimson estimates with the prepay clause removed so work may proceed within statutory constraints.
