Subcommittee advances technical cleanup bill to fund Bureau of Workers’ Comp computer system

Leader Boyd, speaking for House Bill 16-30, told the Banking & Consumer Affairs subcommittee that the bill is "a cleanup bill" and that the Bureau of Workers' Compensation plans to fund a new computer system "from some excess funds and the subsequent injury and the vocational recovery fund" rather than seeking a general-assembly appropriation.
The measure makes mostly wording and administrative changes to statute; Leader Boyd said the funding approach is the only substantive change. Chairman Darby called the question and the clerk reported the vote: "you have 5 ayes and no noes." The committee voted to send House Bill 16-30 on to the Commerce committee.
The bill was introduced as coming from the Bureau of Workers' Compensation and no amendment was offered during the subcommittee discussion. No fiscal impact beyond the agency's internal funding plan was reported in the discussion.
