Selectboard signs highway mileage, denies driver insurance claim and discusses class-4 road policy

At the Jan. 14 meeting the Selectboard signed the required Certificate of Highway Mileage, recording that the town’s road mileage has not changed. The board also reviewed a claim from a driver who said her windshield was damaged while driving behind a town truck; Vermont League of Cities and Towns (VLCT), the town’s insurer, recommended denying payment for the claim and the board concurred with that recommendation.
Separately, the board discussed drafting a policy for unplowed class 4 roads that are used for winter logging. The proposed policy would require parties using those roads to return them to the same condition as before winter and to provide photographic evidence from before and after the activity. The board plans to meet with the users of those roads to implement the policy language.
