Mayor Steven Lambert told the board the village’s current practice of issuing ordinance violations once a year has resulted in insufficient follow-up. "We issue violations once a year and no follow happens," he said, and urged a more organized process with specific timelines and consistent enforcement.
Chief Stan Workman and Trustee Rose Mann said they have met with the mayor to discuss ordinance violations and agreed that improved procedures are needed. The board did not adopt a new enforcement policy at the Sept. 12 meeting but directed staff to work on organizational steps and timelines to improve consistency.
The topic will return for further discussion or action as staff develops a proposed process and schedule for enforcement and follow-up.
