Conservation Commission letter presented at Planning Commission; residents ask for legal review

Woody Dugan spoke during public comment to say he attended to address questions about a letter from the Fayston Conservation Commission. He told commissioners, "If you have not read the letter, I came in order to be able to address any questions you had about it." Carol Chamberlain and other commenters raised concerns about whether CVRPC, the Brattleboro Land Conservancy Trust (BLCT) or the town attorney had reviewed the proposed language. Chamberlain said she would not include ATVs in the trail definition and questioned whether a road should create a natural subdivision; she also referenced state statute language on ADU sizing. Commissioners said they would seek review by counsel when draft language is more finalized and continue the discussion at a future meeting.
No formal action was taken on the letter; the commission will continue to consider the suggested revisions internally and at subsequent meetings.
