Mad River Path liaison: grant denied; committee shifts to implementation structure

At the Nov. 10 meeting Michael Duell reported the Mad River Path did not receive a grant; the Advisory Committee will be replaced by an Implementation Committee structured into six working groups and the next MR Path meeting is Dec. 3.
Michael Duell reported to the Fayston Planning Commission that the Mad River Path (MR Path) did not receive a recent grant award but received feedback to improve a future application. He said the Advisory Committee will be shut down and replaced by an Implementation Committee organized into six groups: Municipal; Government Agencies; Landowners; Funding; Outreach; and Engineering & Design.
Duell noted that a bike ride from Warren to Waitsfield, which included a state delegation, showed heavy truck and equipment traffic on Rt. 100 and highlighted potential safety and design considerations for a multi-use path. He said the next MR Path meeting is scheduled for Dec. 3, 2025.
