Committee approves four-year salary schedule for sheriff, clerk of courts and coroner

The Price County Administration Committee voted to adopt a four-year salary schedule for three elected positions and forwarded the resolution to the full County Board. The final proposal sets the County Sheriff’s salary at $108,000 for 2027, $110,000 for 2028, $113,000 for 2029 and $116,000 for 2030. The Clerk of Courts’ salary will be $76,377 for 2027 and $79,000, $81,000 and $83,000 for 2028–2030, respectively. The Coroner’s base salary was set at $8,000 (2027), $8,500 (2028), $9,000 (2029) and $9,500 (2030); additional fee rates were set at $100 per death and $110 per cremation.
Committee members cited a wage and salary analysis placed on file that compared all 72 Wisconsin counties and included contiguous-county and population-based comparisons. The Chief Deputy’s salary history was noted as part of the consideration when proposing the Sheriff’s salary. A sequence of motions finalized the amounts and forwarded the resolution to the full County Board for consideration. Roll-call votes on the amendment and final acceptance recorded Yes votes from Jeff Hallstrand, Paula Houdek and Dennis Wartgow, and No votes from Alan Barkstrom and Jordan Spacek. The resolution will appear on the full County Board docket for final action.
