Langley council holds hearing and adopts Transportation Benefit District limited to city limits

The Langley City Council held a public hearing on a proposed Transportation Benefit District (TBD) and then adopted an ordinance establishing the district on Jan. 6. The public hearing opened at 5:39 p.m. and closed at 5:42 p.m.; during the hearing Councilmember Chris Carlson clarified that "the TBD is limited to the city limits, not to the entire zip code" and added that there is no conflict with Island Transit.
Following the hearing, Councilmember Chris Carlson moved to approve the ordinance (seconded by Councilmember Rhonda Salerno). The motion passed unanimously among voting members; Councilmember Harolyn Bobis did not vote due to technical issues. The ordinance establishes the TBD as a city-limited funding mechanism for transportation projects and will allow the city to move forward with TBD-related implementation steps.
