Erin Niles told the Eden Selectboard on Feb. 25 that her ability to register her child for local youth sports has been compromised after she was blocked from the Eden Youth Sports Committee (EYSC) Facebook page. She asked whether the town office had received letters of interest for appointments to the sports committee; Melissa Whitcomb confirmed three letters have been submitted for consideration.
Niles also raised concerns about a new online registration system used for Little League, saying the vendor’s sign-up process was asking for sensitive information that has not yet been activated. Selectboard member Tim Bullard suggested the town develop basic guidelines governing any social-media presence that represents Eden or a town-affiliated community entity so that access and moderation practices ensure inclusion. Niles said she would submit a written statement to the board with additional details. The board did not take a formal vote during the meeting but agreed to consider social-media guidance and the committee appointment process.
