County Treasurer Renee Leinfelder presented the monthly Treasurer’s Reports, including revenues, disbursements, investment and checking accounts, loans and debt service. She told the committee that the office collected about $130,000 more during this tax season than the same period last year, crediting Deputy Treasurer Marina Miller for strong performance.
Leinfelder reported gross taxes of $34.9 million for the cycle with $25.7 million paid so far. The number of in rem properties tied to the 2022 cycle has declined from 73 to 58. Delinquency notices are scheduled to be mailed at the end of March 2026 and the office will provide an updated full list of remaining in rem properties next month. Staff also noted several taxpayers in the Town of Elk had payments returned in the mail but were not charged penalties when they promptly re-sent payments using the returned envelope.
