Principal Brian Deterding reported to the board that Kiowa County will host the Iroquois division of the SPIAA Junior High Basketball Tournament, indicating the district will serve as host for that regional event. Deterding’s report was part of routine principal updates delivered at the Jan. 14 meeting in Greensburg.
Principal Travis Powell said a National Honor Society-sponsored study night had been held and that he believed the first-semester finals/workday schedule worked well. Superintendent Staci Derstein reported that informational parent meetings regarding school security had been held, signaling district outreach on safety measures. President Ki Gamble also reported on the South Central Kansas Special Education Cooperative board meeting before adjourning the meeting at 9:31 p.m.
