The Jerome City Council voted unanimously on July 7, 2026 to adopt Ordinance No. 1254 (Bill No. 739), updating city zoning code to comply with state House Bill 800.
Planning and Zoning Manager Ida Clark explained HB800 amends Idaho Code §§ 39‑4105 and 67‑6509A to expand the definition of manufactured homes, reduce minimum sizes (single‑section homes to 400 square feet; multi‑section homes to 800 square feet) and require local governments to permit single‑dwelling manufactured homes on lots where single‑family dwellings are allowed and multi‑dwelling manufactured homes where multifamily dwellings are allowed. The ordinance also specifies foundation, roof pitch and other placement standards to mirror Idaho Code. Council suspended the rules to read the bill by title and then adopted the ordinance, which the ordinance states takes effect July 1, 2026.
The vote was unanimous (4–0). The ordinance updates the city’s Official Schedule of District Regulations to avoid conflict with the new state statute.
