Ki Gamble elected board president as USD 422 sets officers and administrators for 2019–20

The Unified School District No. 422 Board of Education held its organizational meeting July 8, 2019, at the district office in Greensburg. Ki Gamble called the meeting to order at 8:01 p.m., and the board elected Gamble as president and Paul Kendall as vice president during the first round of motions.
Cory Zenger moved, with Darren McDonald seconding, to elect Ki Gamble president; the board recorded Yes: 5, No: 1 (K. Gamble abstained), and the motion passed. Darren McDonald moved, seconded by Cory Zenger, to elect Paul Kendall vice president; the vote was Yes: 5, No: 1 (P. Kendall abstained). The board also appointed Cassie Kirby as clerk and Dana Trummel as treasurer (each motion passed Yes: 6).
The board approved a package of administrative appointments for 2019–20, including truant officers Travis Powell (high school), Staci Derstein (elementary) and Brian Deterding (junior high); Staci Derstein was assigned Title I, Title II, Title IX and Section 504 coordinator duties; Cassie Kirby was named KPERS designated agent and Freedom of Information officer; Melanie Deterding was named homeless coordinator; and Amanda Gilchrist was listed as food service representative. All listed appointments were approved unanimously. The board also designated Paul Kendall as governmental relations representative for the year.
