AOC reports statewide case-management rollouts and rising AI-driven public-records demand

"This week, we are in the middle of a go live, with 18 additional courts of limited jurisdiction," Don Marie Rubio said, noting the broader work on decision packages and fiscal-year close. Rubio also flagged a growing workload: "We are seeing a significant uptick in [public-records] requests, and we're also seeing significant uptick in requests that have been AI generated or requesters who use AI proxies."
Rubio said the AOC is reviewing strategies to handle volumes within the bounds of GR 31.1 and other rules. She announced personnel change: Bonnie Dyseth will retire at month's end and Eric Lindebloom will become CIO on July 1; Lindebloom brings two decades of statewide technology leadership, including as CIO at the Department of Children, Youth and Families.
Committee members discussed coordination with the governor's 1 Washington initiative and AOC's internal AI policy; Chief Justice Stevens said the court's internal guidance makes clear that AI "is never a substitute for independent review" of legal decisions and will be used only inside controlled systems for a trial period.
Next steps: AOC will continue decision-package work over the summer, coordinate governance reviews, and refine response strategies for public-records demand driven by AI.
