Warren County renews engineering agreement for closed landfill monitoring

The Warren County Board of Commissioners approved a general engineering work authorization with Atlas Technical Consultants LLC to continue environmental monitoring at the county’s closed landfill. The proposal covers two semiannual groundwater and surface sampling events, one monitored natural attenuation groundwater sampling event, and four quarterly methane gas monitoring events. Commissioner Richard Burley, Jr. moved to approve the agreement; Commissioner Allen L. Troy seconded and the board voted unanimously.
Chairman John R. Graham told the board he has advocated discontinuing landfill monitoring but that the Georgia Environmental Protection Department requires ongoing monitoring. The agreement will allow Atlas to provide groundwater and methane monitoring and to perform additional engineering work on request; a copy of the agreement will be placed in the attachments to the 2026 minutes.
