During public comment, several residents and a Budget Committee representative urged the Selectboard to consider a level-funded FY27 budget after noting the General Fund had been rejected in prior votes. Dr. August Murray said the fund had been voted down twice and recommended a zero-increase alternative to reduce the tax burden on residents.
Chair Mike Todd clarified that committee votes lacking consensus could not be presented as committee positions and allowed Dr. Murray to speak as a resident. Gulnick and other board members discussed numeric impacts, and Gulnick said he believed he could produce a level-funded option without cutting services while also warning of future fiscal implications. The Selectboard ultimately accepted a reduced tax need recommendation with one dissenting vote.
