During the FY27 budget review, residents and board members discussed small line-item reductions as a means to lower the tax burden. Mrs. Slade proposed reducing the Town flags line item for one year rather than eliminating it permanently; she noted flags typically last about two years and expressed reluctance to rely on fundraising.
Nichole Gagnon and others suggested Selectboard members could donate their $500 stipends to help cover flag costs; Mr. Bublat supported exploring that option. Ms. Johnson said a Home Depot manager indicated a willingness to donate flags. Town Manager Brandon Gulnick referenced an in-draft Event & Fundraiser Cash Management Policy as relevant to any donation or fundraising steps. The board did not take an immediate formal action to reallocate stipend funds.
