Scott, speaking in his administrative report, told the board that March attendance stood at 94% and previewed partial Smarter Balanced test results. "3rd through 6th grade math, we have 54% had a level 3 or 4," he said, and added that 3rd–6th grade ELA showed 58% at level 3 or 4; middle-school math and ELA results trailed those figures.
Scott also said staff had signed up for upcoming professional-development conferences (literacy in Mitchell, explicit-instruction in Sioux Falls) and confirmed summer school will run June 22–24 and June 29–July 3, with staff teaching summer sessions. The superintendent noted funding for conferences would likely come from federal or state accounts and that preschool and kindergarten enrollment numbers will affect staffing plans for the coming year.
