Readoption of Town Plan could unlock municipal planning grants to help rewrite zoning bylaws

The Selectboard heard that readoption of Weathersfield's Town Plan, expected to be forwarded by the Planning Commission in June, would make the town eligible for municipal planning grants that could defray bylaw rewrite costs.

Planning work and the Town Plan readoption surfaced in the Land Use discussion. Ryan Gumbart told the board that the Planning Commission has completed its review of the Town Plan and expects to forward it to the Selectboard in June; he said bylaw revision work will follow.
"Once the Town Plan is readopted the Town would become eligible for municipal planning grants which could be used to help write zoning bylaws," said Mrs. Bearse. The board discussed using potential grants to offset staff time and consultant costs for bylaw drafting; Gulnick said he will resume grant-seeking activity in July based on prior experience as a grant manager.
