County prepares for SPLOST referendum after Georgia Revenue notice

Chairman John R. Graham told the board that the Georgia Department of Revenue advised Warren County the current 1% Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) is projected to cease effective June 30, 2027.
Graham said SPLOST has funded capital projects since the 1980s and that county staff will meet with representatives from the City of Camak, the City of Norwood, and the City of Warrenton to discuss a possible SPLOST referendum for the November general election. No formal action was taken at the April 14 meeting; a copy of the department letter will be added to the meeting attachments.
The board did not vote on language or timing for a referendum at this meeting.
