The Oak Forest Veterans Commission confirmed plans on June 18 for the city’s Independence Day celebration on Saturday, June 27, 2026, to be held at Gaelic Park. Commission minutes state the first entertainer is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. and the main band, Free Byrd, is scheduled to play at 8:00 p.m.; the commission said Free Byrd requested a larger stage and asked Michael Bennett to explore that option.
The commission noted City Administrator Moses has been scheduling coordination meetings with police, fire, emergency management (EMA), Gaelic Park and the Veterans Commission to ensure safety and logistics for the event. Members discussed Trucking for Veterans returning this year (with the possibility of moving location), and agreed on invitations to multiple vendors and performers as part of the evening’s program. The commission also directed that all vendors be emailed start and setup times, be listed on event flyers, and complete liability forms provided by the city.
