Board signs food-service renewal, joins gas cooperative and approves student-exchange participation

Trustees renewed the Chartwells Foodservice contract (fourth renewal of the original contract dated 07/01/2022) with a proposed 4% management-fee increase for the 2026–27 school year; the management fee would rise from 0.0870 to 0.0905. Administration explained the lunch fund is a separate line item supported by federal meal reimbursements, state lunch match, catering and student payments.
The board also approved joining the East Central Indiana Natural Gas Cooperative after a savings analysis concluded that, compared with the district’s historic costs for 2024–26, participation could have yielded a net savings of $55,308 over a three-year period. Administration said joining the cooperative may provide both cost savings and a better system for budgeting natural-gas costs.
On the academic side, trustees approved enrollment in the PACS academic exchange program, which would enable foreign exchange students to enroll at Nettle Creek Schools; the program’s operations would be overseen by the PACS organization and local community coordinators, with Erin Owens identified as a local coordinator.
Each motion passed on voice votes with no opposition reported.
