Nettle Creek reports mixed assessment results; targeted interventions raise 3rd-grade iRead proficiency to 93%

Administrators reported that 84% of third graders passed the spring iRead3 assessment initially; after eight weeks of intensive in-school interventions and voluntary after-school tutoring, six of the 11 originally failing third graders retested and passed, bringing the district’s third-grade pass rate to 93%. The presenter said summer-school retest opportunities would be offered to any remaining students who needed a second chance.
On statewide iLearn assessments, district results in elementary science exceeded state averages: 69% of fourth graders demonstrated science proficiency vs. the state average of 44%, and sixth-grade science proficiency was 51% vs. the state average of 41%. For biology (an end-of-course iLearn exam taken by some 8th–10th graders), the district reported 31% proficiency compared to a state average of 46%.
Leaders called the results part of a continuous improvement cycle and said they would continue reviewing instructional pacing and intervention strategies. The administration emphasized that some statewide score reporting will be delayed until state standard-setting committees finalize cut scores and a new IDOE dashboard launches later in July.
