Councilman Eric Sander presented highlights from the Volusia‑Flagler Transportation Planning Organization's proposed Transportation Improvement Program for fiscal years 2026/27 through 2030/31, identifying projects that will benefit South Daytona. He listed a Reed Canal Road sidewalk (north side) from Nova Road to U.S. 1 projected to begin in 2027; the Reed Canal Bridge replacement projected for 2030; the South Daytona Traffic Camera Network projected for 2027; Sauls Street Bridge work projected for 2029; and SUN Trail/SUN Loop improvements along Reed Canal projected to begin in 2028.
Councilman Brandon L. Young told the council that proposed state appropriations include approximately $750,000 for South Daytona stormwater and sewer system projects, subject to final approval by the governor. Sander also noted he will continue serving as Chair of the Volusia‑Flagler TPO for the coming year.
