Mayor reports on charging station plan; council agrees to accept veterans' columbarium; Patrick Katz elected Mayor Pro Tem

Mayor Brad Sweet told the council he does not recommend removing the electric charging station at the museum until an alternative site for 3-phase quick-charging stations is located. He said the city should identify locations suitable for three-phase quick chargers before removing existing infrastructure.
The mayor also reported receiving a letter from VFW Post #3386 offering to transfer ownership and management of the Veteran's Columbarium at Mountain View Cemetery to the city; the minutes list the transfer date as Jan. 26, 2026 and state that the council and the mayor agreed to assume ownership and management. Separately, Lance Strite moved to elect Patrick Katz as Mayor Pro Tem for 2026; Cory Hollis seconded the motion and it carried. Mayor Sweet additionally noted he will be absent from the Feb. 11, 2026 meeting.
