The Darrington Town Council voted unanimously Sept. 11 to allow the Community Center Club to apply for a grant from the Stillaguamish Tribe to install a fire alarm system at the community center. Councilmember Billie Burtenshaw moved the authorization and Julie Ford seconded.
Guest presenter Vianne Sergent described the need for the alarm system during the council packet presentation. The motion to permit the application passed with all council members voting in favor. Council took no additional funding action at the meeting; any grant award would return to council for acceptance and budget adjustment if required.
