Students from Shaw Island Elementary presented a slideshow of photos and reflections from an overnight NatureBridge environmental science program at Olympic National Park during the April 14 board meeting. Teacher Diane Clifton accompanied the group as they described trip activities and learning highlights.
The presentation featured student-prepared slides and classroom work produced during the field experience. Board directors asked follow-up questions about what students learned and how field-based science could link to the district’s curriculum. The meeting record notes the directors engaged with the student presenters; the presentation was logged as Item 1.4 on the agenda.
Superintendent Becky Bell and Director Carol Criss acknowledged the students’ work and thanked them for sharing their project with the board. The district’s minutes list several students by name who participated in the presentation.
