The Davenport City Council approved two requests from the Neighbors Helping Neighbors fund during its Jan. 14 meeting. Lance Strite presented application DVP26-01 for past-due utility assistance of $116.07 and moved to approve; Patrick Katz seconded and the motion carried.
Strite then presented application DVP-02, describing an applicant who fell from a ladder, broke his leg and is unable to work; the council approved assistance of $277.18 after a motion by Lance Strite, seconded by Mike Strite. Both awards were approved in open session with no recorded opposition.
The Neighbors Fund provides small, emergency relief payments to residents; council members did not discuss the fund's remaining balance or eligibility criteria during the meeting.
