Fire Chief Mark Payne reported that a residential house fire on Diamond Street resulted in a complete loss in September. Several local residents called City Hall asking how the city will handle debris removal from the burned property.
Council members agreed at the Oct. 17 meeting that "it is too soon for the City to step into a cleanup process until more information is learned on the homeowner's plans." The minutes record that the council will await additional information before directing city involvement in debris removal or cleanup funding.
